Macao ❀ a natural antidepressant

Winter is here, it’s dark and its cold. With the lack of sun for 5-6 months it’s easy to get a little blue.

I struggled for years with seasonal depression. But in my search for natural remedies I have managed to find some things that actually work.

I selfmedicate with chocolate! No joke. Cacao has many benefits. One of the things becouse it’s high in flavanols, it acts like a mood stabilizer within our body. Make sure to use raw cacao for the most benefits.

I also like to add Maca. It is an adoptogen, which help the body to deal with stressors. It is a root from peru used to improve mood, also used to improve both male and female libido (nothing wrong with that right?).

So what happens when you mix this into into a beverage? You get a tasty Macao ❀ this is my Christmas edition

  • 1 cup of water
  • 1 sp raw cacao
  • 1 tsp maca
  • 0,4 tsp cardamom
  • 0,4 tsp Ceylon cinnamon
  • 0,4 tsp powdered ginger
  • 0,8 tsp clowes
  • 0,4 liquorice root
  • 0,4 tsp turmeric
  • 0,4 tsp of vanilla
  • Drizze of pepper
  • 1 sp collagen
  • 2 sp coconut milk
  • 1sp coconut oil
  • 15-30 drops of liquid stevia

First boil the water. If you don’t use geletanized Maca I recommend that you boil it becouse raw Maca contains some starches that can cause digestive stress.

Then add the rest of the ingredients and blend with a hand mixer.

Enjoy ❀

A fun fact is that if you eat chocolate right before taking a test you are more ligthly to perform better. Meaning smart people eat lot’s of cacao. πŸ˜‰
