Diy Deodorant and lipbalm

There is no secret that I am very conscious about what I put in and on my body. Extreme allergies will do that to you πŸ˜‰

So many skincare products, makeup, soaps, perfumes, washing products are filled with toxins, heavy metals, hormone disruptors and questionable additives. Trying to get my health back to a good place I definitely don’t need more of that ❣

That’s why I figured that it is best to go back to basics. Making most my own skincare products, with ingredients I can eat as well. If it is safe enough to put in my mouth it is safe to put on my skin. A great rule of thumb πŸ‘

I wanted to share 2 recipies I use. One for lip balms and one for my deodorant. A little goes a long way. Last time I made deodorant was actually one year ago. So yes by doing this you can actually save some money.

The cool thing about this recipes is that you can easily switch out some oils for what you already have in the pantry. I am a big fan of using what you have.

Only thing you need to remember with switching is to replace the oils or fat with something in the same consistency. Liquid oils with other liquid oils. Hard fat like cacao butter can be switched with beeswax. Just switch it up and have some fun playing around ❀ it is easy to make several things at once while you are at it. Make double and use for both?

Lip balm (approx 6 containers)

1 spoon beeswax

1 spoon cacao butter

1 spoon avocado oil

1 spoon grapeseed oil

10 drops of your favourite essential oil

Melt the beeswax and cacao butter over a water bath. Add the rest of the oils and stir. Pour in containers. Let it cool. Voila ❀ If you are feeling experimental you can add some beetroot powder or cacao powder for color

Deodorant

1 spoon cocoa butter

1 spoon shea butter

2 spoons coconut butter

1 spoon beeswax

1/4 cup of arrow root or cornstarch

1,5 spoons of baking soda

1 spoon of green clay (can be skipped)

10-15 drops of essential oil

Melt all the butters and wax over a water bath until liquid. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Pour in container and let it chill. Ready for action. Smelly free and au natural ❀

Art Therapy

How are you dealing with this Coronavirus times lockdown? Are you bored? Feeling overwhealmed, scared? Many emotions may come up when facing a global pandemic and they are all perfectly normal, allowed to have, and totally understandable. However, we have to find ways to deal with our own emotions, hard to run from them now right? πŸ˜‚ Its a great opputunity to get to know ourselves better ❀

I belive that in this times we need to do everything we can to strengthen our natural defences. Eat healthy organic food, connect with nature, get a lot of sunshine, exsercise, medtitate, learn something new, take a beat and breath it out. Do not read news more than 1-2 times a day. Keep the connection with your loved ones by phone or facetime. Remember WHY we are doing this, and that everything will pass soon enough ❀

Another thing that can help dealing with emotions is doing some art. Art used as part of therapy can help manage behaviours, process feelings, reduce stress and anixity, and increase self esteem. Creating art also stimulates the relese of dopamine. (I think we all need some of that about now)

There seems to be a great connection between the expression of art in some form and a better immune system.

Of course if you do have the need for therapy creating art is not a substitute for a psychologist but it can be a helpful addition.

For me it definitely brings a sense of calm in the middle of the storm. For you people home with school kids and partners you know what storm I am talking about πŸ˜‰

Here is 2 coloring pages I created, and I just wanted to share with you, Working with colors can ceartantly lift your spirit ❀

Lets stick indoors together and keep on sharing inspiration with eachother. ❀
