Aloe Rose Water🌹

Roses are red and blue and now comes in pretty much every color you can ask for. From ancient time it’s a symbol of love. Energetically it is used to heal grief and sorrow and open the heart ❤️ It has been used in skincare since the Greek and Egyptian time. Cleopatra actually soked her sails in rose water before traveling so her scent could be carried by the wind (they could smell her coming 😂).

Not very natural. But OH ❤️🧡💛💚💙💜

Rose water actually has a lot of great benefits. Its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory and can help smooth and sooth irritated skin, reduce redness and puffyness, help skin heal faster and fight of infections. Rosewater has strong antioxidants and is also found to have anti-aging properties. It can relive headaches and enhance mood by relaxing the central nervous system. No wonder it has been used in skincare since pretty much forever. It can also help digestive upset and aids the body in production of more bile. And it has been used to fight of eye-infections.

So there is no reason to let those petals go to waste. Do you have a bush in your garden or some wild roses near by? You can have fun by making your own rose water ❤️ I found a lonely bush in my neighborhood that had so much flowers it couldn’t hold them up anymore, so I felt the need to help a little 😉 Best to use petals grown without pesticides, what we put on your skin will enter our body and your blood stream. For maintaining good a health or better our it I believe in making clean choices.

Rose water

  • Fresh rose petals
  • Double the amount of water

Bring the water to a boil then add it to the rosepetals. You can let it simmer until the petals looses it’s color or like me I just left it steep until the water got cold. Strain through a mesh cloth, and voila you got ROSE WATER 🌹

Use it as it is or as a base for other recipes like this face and body spray

Aloe Rose Water

  • 2 leaves of Aloe Vera
  • 700 ml of Rose Water
  • 1 spoon of glycerine
  • 15 drops of Grapefruit seed extract or some vitamin E (conserving)
  • 3 clean 250 ml spraybottles

Add cold rose water and all the ingredients to a blender or to a jar and use a hand held blender. Mix it up and then its ready. SO EASY!

This spray turned out amazing, and got immediatly stolen by my husband that struggles with migraines and sits infront of a computer all day ❤️ I will take this spray with me on vacation and use it to sooth burned skin or when I feel I just need a little extra boost. I belive this mix also would work amazingly as a facial toner.

If you try this recipe yourself. Let me know what you think and if you find more uses of it. Rose water is supposed to last one year in the fridge. I put my leftovers in a reusable glass bottle so let’s see how long this lasts 😂

Ultra moisturizing handcream

I always have had lots of trouble finding a hand cream that is clean. Meaning NO added hormone disruptors, benzonates, perfumes and other unessecary toxins and chemicals. That also works for very dry skin and doesn’t cost 300 kr for 100 ml. Yeah face it, going “natural” is for some reason VERY expensive at times.

Most dry skin formulas uses very heavy fats and butters, but I don’t really feel like they are penetrating the skin. Not until I figured out how to use vegetable glycerine as part of my formula. It truly worked like magic. I even tested it on my husbands feet who at that point was dryer than the Sahara desert, and just after 1 night of applying the mosterizer the dryness was gone and his human feet came back.

Glycerol is a sugar alcohol that is derived from animal products, plants or petroleum. Vegetable glycerine is made by heating triglyceride-rich vegetable fats like palm, soy or coconut pils, under pressure or together with a strong alkali, such as lye. It causes the glycerine to split from the fatty acids and mix with water, forming an odorless, sweet tasting syrup like liquid. It is commanly used in the food industry, cosmetics and in Phamacutical industrise.

Other benefits of glycerol is that it helps skin health by sooth irritation, protect against irritants and microbes as well as sooth inflamed or wounded skin. It can also work as a barrier on the skin when it needs protection from the natural elements like wind and cold. Though It seems to have no effect on stinging, itching, drying or irritation.

The cool thing about glycerine is that it helps oil and waterbased ingredients so mix, buuut it ususally needs a emulsifier in addition to mix even better. Emulsifiers can be found organic and natural derived or full on chemicals, for me it was important to keep it as clean as possible. For this reason I chose beeswax as my emulsifier.

What I used

  • 1 spoon Cacaobutter
  • 1 spoon beezwax
  • 50 ml of olive oil
  • 50 ml of grapeseed oil
  • 1 spoon of shea butter
  • 100 ml of glycerine
  • Hand held blender
  • (10-15 drops of orange essential oil)

Gently melt everything over a water bath. Add the glycerine at the end. At this point glycerine and the rest of the oils are not going to mix. Pop the whole thing it in the fridge for 15-20 min, then use your blender and mix it well. Now everything should be good and blended. Pour the finished product in containers. I used 2 containers so I can keep 1 fresh in the fridge. There is no plant material in this so I don’t think it will spoil easily, but I if you want to make sure to keep it from growing bacteria, use a spoon or a spatula when using the cream. Best applied at night before sleeping 🌙

This is the blended version. Ofcourse I forgot in my eager to take the before picture 😉

Originally I made this cream for my son who’s hands where cracking up from all the hand-washing at school, but seriously it works for everything and everyone. AND it is SAFE, pure and natural ❤

Enjoy being soft and moisturized😘

Diy Deodorant and lipbalm

There is no secret that I am very conscious about what I put in and on my body. Extreme allergies will do that to you 😉

So many skincare products, makeup, soaps, perfumes, washing products are filled with toxins, heavy metals, hormone disruptors and questionable additives. Trying to get my health back to a good place I definitely don’t need more of that ❣

That’s why I figured that it is best to go back to basics. Making most my own skincare products, with ingredients I can eat as well. If it is safe enough to put in my mouth it is safe to put on my skin. A great rule of thumb 👍

I wanted to share 2 recipies I use. One for lip balms and one for my deodorant. A little goes a long way. Last time I made deodorant was actually one year ago. So yes by doing this you can actually save some money.

The cool thing about this recipes is that you can easily switch out some oils for what you already have in the pantry. I am a big fan of using what you have.

Only thing you need to remember with switching is to replace the oils or fat with something in the same consistency. Liquid oils with other liquid oils. Hard fat like cacao butter can be switched with beeswax. Just switch it up and have some fun playing around ❤ it is easy to make several things at once while you are at it. Make double and use for both?

Lip balm (approx 6 containers)

1 spoon beeswax

1 spoon cacao butter

1 spoon avocado oil

1 spoon grapeseed oil

10 drops of your favourite essential oil

Melt the beeswax and cacao butter over a water bath. Add the rest of the oils and stir. Pour in containers. Let it cool. Voila ❤ If you are feeling experimental you can add some beetroot powder or cacao powder for color

Deodorant

1 spoon cocoa butter

1 spoon shea butter

2 spoons coconut butter

1 spoon beeswax

1/4 cup of arrow root or cornstarch

1,5 spoons of baking soda

1 spoon of green clay (can be skipped)

10-15 drops of essential oil

Melt all the butters and wax over a water bath until liquid. Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well. Pour in container and let it chill. Ready for action. Smelly free and au natural ❤
